So mine is a different type of review. I bought my place from the agent, Erika Shapiro; she wasn't my buyer's agent. But I wanted to write a review on her anyways because if I ever sell my place, and if she's still in business, I would have her sell it for me. I also highly recommend any of my friends and colleagues use her as their agent.
Even as a seller's agent, she was professional and friendly, and my agent was quite Green in the field. She didn't take advantage of him. She was so nice and friendly and was always willing to take his call to answer my questions. Additionally, Erika is an amazing resource for Leisure World as she lives where she sells. That is handy because she knows everybody, the rules, the whole area, and all the idiosyncrasies.
My friends are jealous that at 56 years old, I just squeaked by purchasing a place here. It is beautiful, in mint condition, everything new, and it is Erika's condo she was selling that I bought. She has impeccable taste and remodeled the whole condo so it was modern and fresh, and it just so happens to have the best view overlooking the green belt. Of course, everywhere is a green belt, but it at least does not include the sight of a parking lot.
I have already referred her to quite a few of my friends at the University, and they're hoping within the next year to look and purchase in Leisure World. They are excited to use her as they know how much I enjoyed working with her and continue to do so! I text her once a week for information, and she is more than happy to find out, but she already knows the answer more often than not. She's funny, personable, and unlike the typical resident here, but neither am I!
I highly recommend her as your agent. I cannot say enough good things about her. She made the whole house-buying process smooth and taught my agent a lot, LOL. I almost wish she was my agent, but buying from her was just as good as having her represent me!
If you are looking for someone who knows everything about Leisure World and will give it to you straight and honestly, yet with an amazing sense of humor, use Erika! She will make the whole buying, or even selling process, so smooth and easy. And she has great taste and can tell you whether the upgrades are worth it or not when you are looking at places. She knows everybody and can put you in touch with her contacts. She's an excellent agent and resident to keep in touch with.
Sure, other Realtors may be more "well known," but that doesn't necessarily mean more experience. I spoke with them initially when I first looked at buying in Leisure World before I had an agent. They were rude and condescending and didn't know I was old enough to purchase here. This is too bad for them because I would have made them more money than other people buying in the mutual they sell. And I actively discourage others from using them. So I'm working against them and putting all my recommendations with Erika. I am 1000% about customer service, and that's what Yelp is about. I had the best experience with her, regardless that she was not my agent, but she impressed me so much I'm willing to give her name to everyone I know.

If you are going to live in Leisure World, then look no further than the top salesperson, Erika Shapiro. I didn't realize it when I walked in, but lucky me, she was the only one there when I first stepped in. She listens to your needs and takes you to many places. I was specific with my criteria, and she knew exactly what to show me. She also knew what houses were under contingency, so I ended up buying a place that was not listed. I now have my retirement home, and it is nice! ~ Darrell K.
I had a great experience with Carol Friedland. While I was not ready to buy, she was a friendly, well-knowledgeable realtor. She showed me multiple properties and all the amenities and told me how wonderful it is to live in the complex. She took a lot of time with me and never got impatient. Joanie Korman made it so easy! Escrow just closed on my Mom's apartment. It was a breeze. Joanie helped us prep the condo for sale, gave great advice on pricing it right, and took charge of the full process. She even facilitated some of the necessary repairs and always kept me well-informed. She is a 5-Star agent. ~ Hilda S
